Another quite remarkable change is the scrolling between islands. As you may recall, in Pokémon Sun and Moon we traveled between islands aboard a boat, and while this option is still available, in Ultrasol and Ultraluna the first time we visit a new island we will do so using a method quite in keeping with the Hawaiian style that exudes Alola: surfing on Mantine.
This is a quite entertaining mini-game that invites us to catch the wave to gain speed, and thus gain height to perform pirouettes, all while dodging Tentacools, Sharpedos and other types of aquatic Pokémon. And surfing on Mantine is not just a simple diversion to escape from so much combat (which is also): as we overcome the different courses, we get new (more complicated) pirouettes to perform, and the higher our score, the more Battle Points we get, thus becoming a new quite simple and entertaining way to get this valuable resource. En Japón se recibe con una tarjeta del juego arcade Pokémon Ga-Olé, mientras que en Occidente se recibirá con una tarjeta del Juego de Cartas Coleccionables Pokémon. A través de un programa de televisión japonés, el 6 de agosto de 2017, también se reveló una nueva forma de la evolución de Rockruff, llamada Lycanroc Crepuscular, que se podrá obtener a través de un evento a partir del día del lanzamiento. También dijeron que Ash Ketchum tendrá esa forma en el anime.
